Organizations exploring the opportunity for the Devils Lake hospital to join Altru
Devils Lake, ND – Altru Health System has entered into a non-binding Letter of Intent with CommonSpirit Health to explore the Devils Lake hospital joining Altru.
Leaders from Altru and CommonSpirit look forward to continuing discussions, building on their mutually held commitment to advancing the healthcare of the Devils Lake region.
“This is an exciting opportunity to expand upon Altru’s commitment to advancing healthcare in the Lake Region,” says Altru CEO Todd Forkel. “Altru and CommonSpirit have similar visions in providing high-quality care for the communities we serve, and we are committed to working closely together over the coming months with that goal in mind.”
“CommonSpirit wants patients in the Devils Lake region to have access to strong, local healthcare services,” said Tim Bricker, president for CommonSpirit’s Central Region. “Altru is well-positioned to integrate Devils Lake into a continuum of care. We look forward to continuing our conversations.”
Both organizations recognize the important role that health care plays in keeping rural communities vibrant. This shared understanding will help ensure the long-term success of healthcare in the region should an agreement move forward. Altru has a proven track record of providing access to comprehensive, integrated care in rural communities across North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.
Signing a Letter of Intent is the first step in the process of reaching a formal agreement to transfer ownership of the Devils Lake facility. It is the hope of both organizations that the due diligence process moves forward smoothly, and the Devils Lake Hospital could join Altru by the end of 2024.
