Altru’s New Hospital
Altru’s new hospital brings advanced care and a state-of-the-art hospital to our community. Designed with patients and families in mind, our modern campus combines innovative technology with compassionate care to enhance every aspect of the healing experience. Our new hospital opened on January 19, 2025. It is located at 1200 S. Columbia Rd., just north of the old hospital. Explore this new space through a virtual hospital tour, an in-person tour, or learn about the many patient benefits and fun facts. FREE Valet & Shuttle Service
- We encourage patients and guests to use our FREE valet service. Just drive up to the main entrance of the new hospital, and a valet will park your car. Once you are done at the hospital, they will bring your car back for you.
- Valet hours: Monday – Friday 5 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday – Sunday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- For patients and guests who choose to park their own vehicles, there will be a shuttle to bring them to the main entrance. Visitor parking is designated by green patient parking signs.
- Shuttle hours: Monday – Friday 6 a.m. – 9 p.m., no shuttles on weekends.
- Patients and guests visiting the new ER will park right outside of the ER entry. The ER is located on the east side of Altru’s new hospital, which is facing Columbia Rd.
- If you need to move across campus because of appointments in different buildings, call 701.780.1079 for a courtesy car or wheelchair-accessible van. Courtesy shuttle hours: Monday – Friday | 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. No courtesy shuttle on weekends.
- Patients are discharged through the Patient Pickup door near the ER, visible from Columbia Rd. View our map to find the small blue star in the upper right corner.
- A lot of buildings have been remodeled, and many departments have been relocated. Visit our Departments & Locations Moves page for the most up-to-date information on the departments that have moved recently.
- Visitors check in at the front desk with a photo ID.
- Patients proceed to the registration desk to show your insurance card and receive your patient bracelet.
- Suggested visiting hours are 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily. After 8 p.m., the main entrance is locked, and people must buzz in with the intercom or enter through the ER.

Altru offers a variety of food and beverage options to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of patients, visitors, and staff. The Altru Eatery provides a range of nutritious meals, including vegetarian and gluten-free choices, ensuring that dietary restrictions are accommodated. Additionally, there is a vending machine available 24/7, stocked with snacks and beverages for quick and convenient access. For those looking for a caffeine boost or a light snack, the Park Cafe serves freshly brewed coffee, tea, and an assortment of pastries and sandwiches.
Guests may order a meal to be delivered to the room of the patient they are visiting, allowing patients to eat with their loved ones.
