Volunteers embody the care we have for one another. As an integral part of our healthcare team, volunteers enhance the care experience for patients and their families, and positively impact the lives of those we serve. As a volunteer, there are many ways you can serve, and we are always seeking new areas of assistance.

- Our volunteer team annually provides the health system 10,000 – 15,000 hours of valuable service.
- Our team of volunteers consists of adults, teens, and college students with a variety of backgrounds.

Volunteer Programs
Altru provides weekly, continuous volunteer positions across a range of healthcare settings, catering to high schoolers, college students, and community members. Additionally, we offer project and event volunteer options to individuals and groups.
Junior Volunteers
Our program offers a thorough orientation and on-the-job experience as well as an excellent opportunity to explore many health-related occupations. Specifics of the program include:
- The school year program is open to students who have either started their tenth-grade year or are at least 16 years of age. The summer program is open to students who are at least 14 years of age.
- The time commitment is a minimum of one (two to four hour) shift per week for at least one semester.

Student Volunteers
The student program provides health-related career experiences in areas such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, emergency department and pediatrics. Specifics of the program include:
- Open to students enrolled in post-secondary school
- The time commitment is a minimum of one shift per week (two to four hours) for at least two semesters.
- Students may apply throughout the year

Adult Volunteers

The majority of volunteer opportunities occur during regular business hours. Weekly shifts are usually two to four hours, available at several different Altru facilities.
Project and Event Volunteer Opportunities
