Evan Sconce, DNP, MHNP-BC, is a psychiatry provider at Altru Health System. He is motivated to change the stigma surrounding mental illness. This is his driving force, to provide education and encouragement to those who feel ashamed of an illness they never asked for. Evan has a wife and 2 children (1 boy and 1 girl), he loves playing music (guitar, piano, vocals). In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching most sports, particularly tennis and basketball, spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, hiking and camping.
Philosophy of Medicine
"As a young child with a Broken arm. I couldn't help but marvel at the kindness and care of the health care workers. Even at 12 years of age, I knew I wanted to show that level of care to people. As a nursing student I desired to learn more about psychiatry and psychiatric nursing. Most people have personal experience with mental illness, either directly or with immediate family or friends. This is the reason I desire to treat all people with care, respect, and dignity. It does not matter what illness label you may have. What matters is you and your health, period."
