Joe Shelton, MD is a pediatrician at Altru Health System. He enjoys helping families with infants through children and youth through young adulthood. Dr. Shelton supports population health initiatives and is interested in improving the mental health of children of all ages. He has a special place in his heart for military families, families in crisis and larger families with many children. Dr. Shelton enjoys living in the country, and spending time with his wife and family. In his free time he is a hobby bee keeper.
Philosophy of Medicine
"I approach patients with the attitude of holistic health in mind. I view my role with parents as a supportive coach to help improve the health of their children. I see children with minds, bodies, and spirits that need nurturing, direction, and even correction. I attempt to keep that focus in dealing with the smaller and the larger issues of these children and their families. My hope is to clarify, to the best of my ability, the diagnoses and treatments available for children in ways that parents can understand."
