About Me

Mevan Wijetunga, MD is a cardiologist at Altru Health System and specializes in cardiac electrophysiology or management of heart rhythm disorders. He performs procedures such as the implementation of cardiac monitors, pacemakers, and defibrillators, as well as catheter-based ablations of specific heart rhythm disorders. Outside of work, Dr. Wijetunga enjoys spending time with his family and friends, reading, listening to music, traveling, and exercise as often as he can. He is passionate about extending cardiac electrophysiology services to other places around the world, particularly for populations who cannot financially afford these services.

Philosophy of Medicine

"I consider the opportunity to take care of a fellow human being is an unparalleled honor and privilege. Often, I discuss my assessments on patients based upon what I would do if my family member would face a similar situation. Every day provides an opportunity to help and make a difference in the life of someone with what I love doing."
