Overview
Acute coronary syndrome is a medical emergency. It refers to conditions that involve a sudden lack of blood flow to the heart, such as a heart attack.
Symptoms
Symptoms include severe chest pain or discomfort. Get medical help right away for sudden or unexplained chest pain. Other symptoms may include shortness of breath, upset stomach, heavy sweating, fainting and feeling unusually tired.
Treatments
Emergency treatment is needed. Treatment may include medicines to break up blood clots and control chest pain and blood pressure. Surgery may be needed to restore blood flow to the heart.
