Self-care
Rest and limit salt to less than 2,000 milligrams a day if advised by a healthcare provider. Don't drink alcohol and don't take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines, such as ibuprofen and naproxen sodium.
When to seek immediate medical care
See a healthcare professional immediately if:
- New onset.
- Cause isn't clear.
- Fever.
- Belly pain.
- Confusion.
