Overview

Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus. In long-lasting cases, liver failure, cancer or scarring can occur.

Symptoms

Symptoms include belly pain, dark urine and fever. Children may not show symptoms.

Treatments

The condition often clears up on its own. Long-lasting cases need medicine and, possibly, a liver transplant.
