High amounts of the waxy substance found in fats in the blood, known as cholesterol.
Overview
Hypercholesterolemia is high amounts of the waxy substance, called cholesterol, found in fats in the blood. It can limit blood flow, increasing risk of heart attack or stroke.
Symptoms
There are no symptoms. A blood test can detect hypercholesterolemia.
Treatments
Treatments include medicines, a healthy diet and exercise.
