Overview
Hyperplasia is an abnormal increase in normal cell production. It may indicate precancerous changes. Various types of hyperplasia exist. Each affects a different tissue or organ. Benign prostate gland enlargement and a precancerous condition in which cells accumulate in a breast duct are examples.
