Overview

Macular degeneration is an eye disease that causes loss in the center of the field of vision. In dry macular degeneration, the center of the retina breaks down. With wet macular degeneration, leaky blood vessels grow under the retina.

Symptoms

Blurred vision and reduced central vision are key symptoms.

Treatments

Vitamins may slow disease progression. Surgery may be an option.
