Overview

Peyronie disease is caused by repeated injury to the penis that causes scar tissue to build up. The injury occurs most often from sex or physical activity.

Symptoms

Peyronie disease causes a serious bend to the penis. Symptoms can come on suddenly or gradually. Usually the condition gets worse for a while then remains the same. There might be pain or trouble getting or keeping an erection, called erectile dysfunction.

Treatments

Penile traction therapy might be the first step in treating the condition. This therapy involves wearing a device for a set time every day to stretch the penis. Sometimes surgery might help ease serious symptoms.
