A skin condition that happens when shaved beard hair curls back into the skin. This causes small bumps to form around hair follicles.
Overview
Razor bumps are a common skin problem linked to shaving the face. The bumps happen most often in people with curly beard hair. This condition also is called pseudofolliculitis barbae.
Symptoms
Symptoms include groups of small, swollen bumps and pimples filled with pus that form around hair follicles.
Treatments
Self-care options include:
- Shaving less often.
- Using shaving cream when shaving.
- Using an electric razor.
- Applying a soothing aftershave product.
