Overview
Snakebite is an injury caused by a snake's bite. It can be life-threatening if the snake is venomous.
Symptoms
Symptoms of a nonvenomous snakebite include pain, injury and scratches at the site of the bite. Venomous snakebite symptoms include serious pain and tenderness at the site, nausea, and weakness. It can lead to swelling and bruising.
Treatments
If a person is bitten by a snake, it's important for them to stay still and calm. Emergency medical care is needed, especially if the area changes color, swells or is painful.
