Athlete's foot is a contagious fungal infection that usually begins between the toes. It often occurs in people whose feet have become very sweaty while confined within tightfitting shoes. This condition is also called tinea pedis.

Symptoms

Symptoms include a scaly rash that usually causes itching, stinging, and burning.

Treatment involves topical antifungal medicines.
