Prescription Assistance

The Prescription Assistance Program is a patient advocacy service for community members throughout our region who are facing difficulties obtaining prescription medications due to cost. This program provides support in identifying prescription assistance options and completing the application.

Who can apply for assistance?

Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis. Factors that may influence eligibility or level of assistance include income, prescription insurance coverage, and type of medication.
Assistance may be available for community members who do not receive primary care services at Altru.

What medications are included?

A wide range of medications may be available through prescription assistance, such as:

  • Blood thinners
  • Heart medication
  • Injections
  • Inhalers
  • Insulin
  • And more!

How do I apply?

To initiate an application, call 701.780.6116. Most programs will require proof of household income and a copy of your insurance card. We will help you identify what information is needed and submit the application including support documents.
