Investment Furthers Altru’s Commitment to Advanced Patient Care

Grand Forks, N.D. – As part of Altru’s commitment to investing in the most advanced surgical technology, Altru is now using the latest Intuitive daVinci® Xi robotic surgical system. The new system offers three-dimensional high-definition visualization and allows for enhanced dexterity, greater precision, and control for surgeons.

The advanced system allows Altru surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures in general surgery, urology, and gynecology. For patients, the newest version of DaVinci continues to offer the benefits of less pain, less blood loss, and faster recovery times. Altru’s new XI unit expands the number of procedures that can be performed using the robotic system in the abdomen and improves access within the abdomen for the surgeons.

Altru’s investment in technology further supports our regional commitment to a bold new era in care. Through the skill of our surgeons and utilization of this advanced minimally invasive technology, we can improve our patient’s outcomes and get them back to their lives faster.

Altru’s surgeons are completely in control of the robotic-assisted system. It translates the surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body. The Xi system’s 3D high definition system provides surgeons a highly magnified view, which virtually extends their eyes and hands into the patient.
