Altru Nurse Practitioner Laura Carlson Named Provider of the Quarter

Altru is pleased to announce Laura Carlson, a nurse practitioner in dermatology at Truyu, has been awarded one of the Advanced Practice Provider of the Quarter for Quarter 1 of 2023.

“Laura Carlson is not only a knowledgeable provider, but she is a very kind and caring person. I have recommended her to other family members who have also appreciated the wonderful care she provides,” shared a patient.

Laura is compassionate, listens well and is always learning.

“I’ve been a patient of Laura’s for a while now, and she genuinely cares about all the conditions I have,” wrote a patient.

Another patient explained, “I loved seeing Laura. She got to the point, she listened, and she did the best to care for me.”

Laura loves the whole array of work in dermatology, but especially doing skin cancer screenings because she appreciates educating patients about what to look for and how to take care of their skin. Laura enjoys caring for people of all ages, from infants to older adults, and does that at Truyu.

“Laura is great at her job. I drive from Fargo just for her,” noted another patient.

“Laura is a fantastic advanced practice provider and a wonderful person. She is extremely knowledgeable and gives her best to every patient,” remarked Jenny Estad, senior director of clinic operations at Altru.

Laura, born and raised in Fargo, attended NDSU and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She then attended UND, earning her master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Laura is certified as an FNP-C, family nurse practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and a DCNP, a dermatology certified nurse practitioner.

The Advanced Practice Provider of the Quarter recipients are selected after reviewing survey results submitted by patients. Altru started this award in 2021 as a way to recognize outstanding care given by Altru providers.
