Altru Welcomes New Board Member

Grand Forks, N.D. - Altru Health System appointed Rebecca Novacek, MD to join the non-profit's board of directors in October 2024.
“As a provider who has served our patients for more than a decade, I am committed to making a difference for our community,” Dr. Novacek said. “I am excited for the opportunity to be a voice for Altru’s providers and patients on our board.”
Dr. Novacek received her medical degree from the University of North Dakota, followed by a neurology residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. At Altru, Dr. Novacek is a valued contributor on the Physician Compensation Committee and the Medical Executive Committee.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Novacek to Altru’s board of directors,” said Karen McLennan, Altru’s board chair. “Dr. Novacek’s proven leadership, dedication to patient care, and deep community ties make her an excellent addition to our board. Her contributions will undoubtedly strengthen our health system as we continue to serve our community.”
A native of Minot, North Dakota, Dr. Novacek completed her undergraduate studies at Concordia College. Her family is based on a farm near East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys supporting her three daughters in various sports, including basketball and horseback riding.
Altru’s Board of Directors is a volunteer board comprised of community members, Altru physicians and Altru’s president and CEO. Currently, 10 individuals serve on the board.
