Barry Bjorgaard, MD, Awarded Physician of the Quarter

Altru is pleased to announce Barry Bjorgaard, MD, has been awarded Physician of the Quarter. Dr. Bjorgaard is a cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeon at Altru specializing in coronary artery disease, abdominal and thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair, and valve repair and replacement. 

“Dr. Bjorgaard and his team were exceptional,” one patient said. “They thoroughly explained things, were pleasant and always very upbeat.” 

Healing hearts can make a difference for patients at Altru. 

“Dr. Bjorgaard is always willing to work as a team to put our patients first,” said Dr. Mevan Wijetunga, the chair of Altru’s Heart and Vascular team. “We are grateful to have him on our team.”

The Physician of the Quarter recipients are selected after reviewing survey results submitted by patients. 

Altru started this award in 2021 as a way to recognize outstanding care given by Altru providers.
