Altru Names Jeremy Gardner, MD, Chief Medical Officer

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Altru Health System is pleased to announce Jeremy Gardner, MD, as its new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Gardner will begin his new role effective October 19, 2026. As CMO, Dr. Gardner will provide physician leadership across Altru, working closely with medical staff and organizational leaders to support high-quality, patient-centered care and advance Altru’s mission of making a difference for the communities it serves.

Dr. Gardner has spent more than 16 years with Altru, caring for patients as an orthopedic surgeon and serving the organization in clinical and medical leadership roles, most recently as medical director of orthopedics and neurosciences.

Dr. Gardner earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Gardner will work with Altru’s medical staff and leadership team on clinical priorities, physician engagement, quality and patient safety, and initiatives that support the delivery of exceptional care across Altru.
Dr. Gardner will continue his practice as an orthopedic surgeon in addition to his responsibilities as Chief Medical Officer.
