Melanie Nesdahl, NP, Recognized as Altru's Provider of the Quarter

Grand Forks, N.D. - Altru is proud to recognize Melanie Nesdahl, NP, with the Provider of the Quarter award for her outstanding teamwork, compassionate care and commitment to excellence in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

"Melanie exemplifies what it means to provide compassionate, family-centered care," said Lisa Johnson, director of Specialty Services at Altru. "She is an exceptional clinician who consistently supports her teammates while creating meaningful connections with the families she serves. Her calm presence, expertise and willingness to step in wherever she's needed make her an invaluable member of our NICU team and a wonderful example of Altru's commitment to excellence."

Nesdahl was nominated by a fellow team member for exemplifying Altru's value of ‘Win as a Team’ through her willingness to step in wherever she's needed. During a particularly busy shift, Nesdahl helped support nurses caring for critically ill patients, ensuring the team could continue providing exceptional care.

"Melanie is always willing to help," her nominator wrote. "She also takes the time to build connections with families by explaining her thoughts and plan of care in a way that involves them and helps ease their anxieties."

Her nominator also highlighted the exceptional care she provides at the bedside, sharing that one patient's parent specifically requested Nesdahl to place their baby's IV, affectionately referring to her as "the holy hand" because of her skill and gentle approach.

The Provider of the Quarter award recognizes advanced practice providers who consistently demonstrate Altru's mission, vision, and values.
