Pathology Doctor Named Physician of the Quarter

Dr. Heidi Jess of Altru’s Pathology Department has been selected as Physician of the Quarter. Dr. Jess was nominated for her exceptional dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to supporting her colleagues and patients. She consistently goes above and beyond to make a meaningful difference.

“Dr. Jess exemplifies the very best of Altru’s mission and values,” said Dr. Josh Deere, Altru president. “Her willingness to step in during a challenging moment, support her teammates, and lead with both compassion and integrity speaks volumes about who she is as a physician and a colleague.” 

When the Pathology department was unexpectedly reduced to only one pathologist’s assistant, Dr. Jess quickly organized a process with her colleague in order to support the team and minimize turnaround time delays. This effort was deeply appreciated across the Pathology department, particularly by the team member who was suddenly tasked with the workload of two people. 

Dr. Jess is also known for her strong sense of integrity and compassion. She routinely takes proactive steps to help others, addressing immediate needs while also creating a lasting, positive impact on the Lab and Pathology teams. Her purposeful yet kind approach motivates and uplifts those around her, helping colleagues recognize their own abilities and potential.
