Our Services
Our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, nurses, recreational therapists, social workers, and other specialists can provide stabilization, evaluation, and treatment for mental health crises and situations requiring 24/7 intensive care.
Altru’s Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit offers medical care, individual and group therapy, recreational therapy, social work assessments, and thorough discharge planning. We also offer a therapeutic school program for adolescent patients.
Our Facility
Altru Inpatient Behavioral Health consists of 24 total beds with an 18-bed unit specific to adults and a 6-bed unit specific to adolescents. Each patient area includes a nurses' station allowing clinical staff direct access and visibility to primary therapy spaces. The therapy spaces provide room for individual and group therapy, watching TV and games, and for quiet activities such as reading and meditation. Additional interior spaces include consult rooms, medication dispensary areas, patient sleeping rooms, and a laundry room. Patients also have access to outdoor courtyards and a dining room.
What to Expect
- Confidentiality is very important and will be maintained at all times.
- You most likely will have a roommate as all rooms are double rooms.
- You are required to attend and actively participate in all groups during your stay.
- Visiting hours are 4 - 5 p.m. for adults and 3 - 4 p.m. for adolescents. Visitors must call before noon to schedule.
- Phone times will be available throughout the day.
