What inspired you to choose your current residency program?

I chose Altru for my pharmacy residency because the program and community immediately felt like home. Being born at Altru, coming back here carries a special meaning for me. During my interview, I was struck by how genuinely welcoming and supportive everyone was—I truly felt valued as an individual. The flexibility of the residency, the chance to customize my training in state-of-the-art facilities, and Altru’s strong focus on both resident wellness and leadership development all matched what I was looking for. Moving here from Tennessee was a big change, but the inclusive culture and meaningful work serving Grand Forks and rural communities made it feel like the right choice for both my professional and personal growth.

What are your career aspirations after completing your residency?
Looking ahead, I am considering pursuing board certification in critical care, as I am drawn to the complexity and intensity of pharmacy practice in this area. The idea of working closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage critically ill patients excites me, and I want to deepen my expertise so I can provide the best possible care in high-acuity settings. In addition to advancing my clinical skills, I’m also eager to get more involved in academia. I’ve always enjoyed teaching and mentoring, and I hope to eventually hold a precepting or faculty position where I can help train the next generation of pharmacists.

What inspired you to choose your current residency program?

I knew I wanted to stay within the Midwest at an institution that provided additional critical care training. Altru provided a small hospital feel with big hospital opportunities. During my interview, I could tell that all my preceptors would support me both professionally and personally. Everyone is genuinely invested in your education. After I left my interview, I knew this was where I wanted to be.

What are your career aspirations after completing your residency?

I am keeping my options open regarding specialties, but I hope to secure a job as a hospital pharmacist!
