Audiology & Hearing

With Altru Audiology and Hearing Center, your ears are in good hands. When you visit our convenient locations, you will be seen by a certified doctor of audiology, experts in hearing assessment, treatment and technology. Hearing loss can occur for various reasons. It can result from something as simple as wax impaction to more complex issues like trauma, medical side effects, or exposure to loud noises. Understanding the type and degree of your hearing loss can help you and your audiologist create an intervention plan that is right for you.

Schedule an Appointment

Hearing loss stretches far beyond an impairment of hearing. It can impact communication, cause stress and anxiety, and lead to social isolation. Research has also shown links between hearing loss and various health impairments, such as memory loss or cardiovascular disease. Early intervention is crucial for successful outcomes but knowing when to seek help can be difficult. Individuals with hearing impairment will often report that they can hear, but cannot understand in conversations, especially when noise is present. It is important to reach out for help whether your hearing is decreased, or you are struggling to understand conversations. There may be solutions for a better quality of life. Seeking help is beneficial not only for the individual with the hearing impairment, but for those around them as hearing loss effects more than the individual with the loss.
