Pediatric Therapy Services

Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services believes your child and family deserves the best. Our team utilizes a sensory-based team approach to provide therapy for children of all ages through adolescence, including newborns. We offer Speech-Language, Occupational and Physical therapy services. Our therapy team provides the highest quality coordinated therapy services in the region and focus on making an impact in the lives of the children and families we serve.

Milestones

Every child is different and so is each parent’s experience; however, there is knowledge about what the range of normal development from birth to age 5 is. Below you will find milestones organized by period of development. There is no consequence for being cautious for your growing child, and if there is a problem acting early can make all the difference!

Getting Started

We are committed to providing you and your family a great therapy experience with the purpose of helping your child become successful in all aspects of their life through fun, engaging and positive therapy experiences.

We know finding the right pediatric therapist for your child can be challenging and important for your child’s development. The first visit is often the hardest, which is why we want to make it as easy for you and your child. The first visit to our facility is designed to help you get acquainted with our therapists, staff and develop a plan of care for your child. During your evaluation, you will:

  • Meet our office staff to finalize any paperwork and answer any questions you may have
  • Spend approximately an hour with the evaluating therapist
  • Discuss plan of care with evaluating therapist
  • Schedule therapy sessions with our office staff

Altru’s NICU & Pediatric Developmental Clinic is a program for children birth through 18 months considered at risk for developmental delays. We provide comprehensive assessments to identify developmental needs early. We provide recommendations and/or referrals for interventions, ensuring quality medical services and family support are in place to make a lasting difference. Our team includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, neonatology, and speech therapy. Speech therapy is offered as indicated by age and development.

Some risk factors for medical and developmental problems may include:

  • NICU Stay
  • Prematurity
  • Complicated Birth History
  • Diagnosis received at birth (i.e., Down Syndrome, Congenital Heart Defect)
  • Brachial Plexus Injury

NICU & Pediatric Development Clinic scheduling will schedule around the following ages:

Altru’s Autism Spectrum Diagnostic Clinic is a free clinic for children identified as at risk for Autism and related disorders. During the evaluation, the child is assessed by a team of therapists, a pediatrician, a pediatric neurologist, and a pediatric health coach. The evaluation may or may not lead to a diagnosis and further evaluations and assessments may necessary. The goal of the Autism Spectrum Diagnostic Clinic is to provide families with a means of early identification of children with autism and developmental delays.

What to expect during your clinic visit

  • Meet our office staff to finalize any paperwork and answer any questions you may have
  • Complete the following visits throughout the day
    • 15 minutes for intake paperwork
    • 30-minute screening with our therapy team
    • 30-minute consult with a pediatric neurologist
    • 60-minute ADOS-2 assessment with a pediatrician
